Even though February is the shortest month of the year, you still can find lots of unexpected deals!
1. Furniture
Although you may not think of February as one of the best months to buy new furniture, Presidents’ Day, which falls on February 17th, tends to be one of the hottest weekends for furniture sales. Nearly every furniture store out there tends to get into the action, offering deals such as 20% off of everything, packaged room deals, free pieces with select purchases and more! Over the years, Presidents’ Day has become one of the most competitive weekends in the furniture world, which translates to some serious savings for consumers. If you’re in the market for a new couch or coffee table, take a break from honoring our fine presidents with a trip to your favorite furniture store.
2. TVs
Besides Black Friday, there’s one time of year that people tend to buy more TVs than any other—Super Bowl week! Sports fans and party lovers everywhere tend to upgrade their TVs in preparation for the big game. Although many stores offer promos and deals leading up to the game, it also means some significant savings once Super Bowl Sunday has passed. Since most retailers tend to increase their inventory before this party-filled weekend, they are often left with an abundance of TVs. Stores are also looking to clear out older televisions to make way for the 2014 models that are starting to hit shelves, leading the way for some pretty spectacular deals this month.
3. Fragrances
February brings to mind a lot of things—snow, The Super Bowl and, of course, Valentine’s Day! When people think about Valentine’s Day gifts, one of the first items that comes to mind is fragrances, so it’s only natural that retailers tend to push these products by offering a plethora of deals. Even if you’re not looking for a Valentine’s Day gift, February is the perfect month to pick up perfumes and colognes for yourself or to hang on to for upcoming birthday gifts. In addition to value sets that are only available in February, new perfumes tend to hit the market this month and are often available in introductory sizes or gift sets. If you’re looking to stock up on your favorite fragrance or grab your best friend a scent for her birthday next month, February is definitely the month to score the best deals.
4. Tax Software
Although some people anxiously await the arrival of their W-2s so they can file their taxes immediately, many of us—including myself–tend to put off this task for as long as possible. Fortunately for us procrastinators, that means scoring a deal on our tax software! If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, February is the month to do so. This month many office supply and big box retailers begin running promotions on programs such as TurboTax and H&R Block software in an attempt to empty their shelves before April 15th rolls around. Even if you plan on waiting until April 14th to report to Uncle Sam, start monitoring those ads this month, which is when we typically see promotions as high as 50% off!
